Hidden Treasures In Your Tongue

Can the words of our mouth produce life and death? According to Proverbs 18:21 it can. "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." Have you ever heard someone say, "Our words frame our world"? How many of us are living like we really believe this truth? Are our words in line with what we want our world to look like? The Bible tells us that we were made in God's image. Now if God creates with words, and we are made in His image, can we produce with our words also? I bet you are wondering where I'm going with this. Hang in there with me and let me bring you to a revelation that has been born into my spirit.

In Psalm 33:6 & 9 the Word tells us, "By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. Vs 9 For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast." Yes, God created this world with faith filled words. Well, we now know that God creates with words, but what about us? Mark 11:23 says, "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith." Did God want the worlds created? Whatever He said came to pass. Are you getting the picture?

We are a spirit being just like God is. We are the only creatures on the earth that have a spirit and a tongue which produces life. In John 6:63, Jesus told us that His words were spirit and life. People, we are unique. All throughout the Word, it tells us that God is Spirit. But did you know that God also has a soul? Check out Jeremiah 5:9 & 29 if you have any doubt. And of course we know that Jesus is God and He had a body.

Now what does the scripture say about us? In 1 Thes. 5:23 Paul is writing to the Thessalonians and blessing them with this statement, "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless" As you can see, we possess a spirit, soul and body. We not only have an outward form like God, but we have an inward form as well. That form is our soul and spirit. Just like God, we possess all three parts. God has produced Himself children and we're it! Like Father like son so the old saying goes.

Now that we have established that our words create, the question we all must ask ourselves is "what have we been creating?" James 3:10 says, "Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be." You have been setting your future in motion by the words of your mouth and you didn't even know it. Don't you think it is time to start creating a future worth living for? We must get our mouth going in the right direction.

Josh. 1:8 gives us a little secret on how to create a prosperous future. "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."

Wow! Did you see that? The Word of God must not depart out of your mouth for prosperity. So, what should we be saying for this prosperous, blessed life? THE WORD OF GOD! We must start agreeing with God. Whatever God says about the situations and circumstances of your life is what you agree with Him on.

For example, God says in 1 Pet 2:24 "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed." By Jesus' scourging, He purchased healing for us. This is a past tense statement. We 'were' healed. The work has already been done. All we have to do is possess it by speaking it forth in faith. Too many times we tell others how sick we are instead of what the real truth is, that we have been healed by Jesus' stripes. We are not meant to be reporters, we are supposed to be forecasters. We don't tell it like it is, we tell it like it will be!

The body of Christ must start controlling the words that proceed out of their mouths. We need to learn to guard our tongue. Proverbs 16:23 tells us to teach our mouth. If you continue to confess defeat; that is what you will receive. The Israelites confessed death in the wilderness and that is exactly what they got.

Read Exodus Chapters 14-16 and see for yourself how many times the children of Israel complained and murmured about dying in the wilderness from lack of food, lack of water and believed that the Egyptians would massacre them. God finally got tired of hearing them and gave them what they spoke and believed.

In Num 14:26-29, here is what God said, "And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me. Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me."

It's time to start speaking, believing and receiving your inheritance. Take a stand with God and He will back up your words because they are His Words spoken through your mouth. How do you set up your future? The same way God does; you speak it forth with faith. Prophecy blessings to yourself because "your words go before you."
